Seven Miles Out festival in Stockport today

Sunday, July 29th, 2012

The Seven Miles Out festival is a great, free festival in the centre of Stockport, from the organisers of The Teenage Market. It’s taking place today (Sunday, 29th July 2012) from 11am until 4pm. I’m playing at the Baker’s Vaults at 12.40pm today – and on one of the stages inside the market at 2.50pm (Just before Manchester musician Gideon Conn). It’s going to be a great day. The sun’s even come out!

A gig tomorrow lunch time / afternoon

Saturday, March 31st, 2012

Hi everyone

It’s been a while! I’m playing a set tomorrow in Stockport, at a brand new mini-festival called the Teenage Market. We had the organisers in the studio last Monday (for the All FM Unsigned show). Sounds like it’s going to be a great event. Loads of music-related stuff, as well as street performances, lots of film showings, and Mr Scruff’s Tea Tent. It’s from 12pm-4pm, though there may well be street performances and events in the morning too.

Huddersfield Cotton Factory – Tomorrow (Friday)

Thursday, December 9th, 2010

I’m playing at Huddersfield’s Cotton Factory tomorrow (Friday 10th Dec 2010). It’s a charity gig, raising money for the Karma Enduro rally, which in turn raises £10,000 for charity. Click for more details of tomorrow’s gig.

It will be good to be in Huddersfield again. I seem to have ended up playing there quite a lot recently – including the Huddersfield Oxjam event back in October.

In the City, 2010

Sunday, October 10th, 2010

I’m starting to get excited about this year’s in the city. The Fugitive Motel blog have a really good preview of some of the artists playing at this year’s festival. I’m having a listen to that now, and beginning to plan out which acts to catch.

I’m excited to have a delegate pass this year, courtesy of All FM and Ursula Pabish’s Monday drivetime show on the station.

As always, it’ll be a mad rush trying to fit in as many talks and bands as possible!

Gig in Altrincham tonight

Thursday, August 12th, 2010

Hi everyone

I’m playing at the Green Room in Altrincham tonight from 9pm (Thursday, 12th August 2010). It’s been a while since I’ve done a gig, so I’m looking forward to it. Here’s the address:

The Totnes Gig – tonight

Sunday, May 9th, 2010

We’re currently driving from Exeter to Totnes, for the last day of rehearsals before the gig tonight. It was sounding really nice yesterday. Basic premise is to get a load of songwriters together and then work on one new song for each songwriter, over a weekend. Then we’re all playing on each other’s songs.

A lot of the arrangements involve vocal harmonies, but there’s a cellist, two keyboards, guitars and djembe between us, so lots of scope for doing stuff.

The gig starts at 7.30pm tonight (Sunday, 9th May) and it’s £4 on the door. The venue is the Ariel Centre, Totnes.

Baa Bar on Tuesday

Saturday, May 1st, 2010

Hello! There’s an exciting gig at Baa Bar, Fallowfield on Tuesday. It’s being put on by Silent Sara, in aid of the Red Cross.

The lineup is looking really good – it features seven acts, including Karima Francis, Kristyna Myles, Glyn Bailey, Robin Mukherjee, Risa Hall and Pavor Nocturnus. I’ll be playing a couple of songs too.

I think entry is by donation, 3 or 4 quid. Should be a really nice night. Things kick off promptly at 8pm…

Recommended gig in Bristol tomorrow: Lisa Redford

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

Really enjoyed doing the radio show on All FM last night with Danny. We managed to fit a lot of tracks in, and we had Manchester legends I Am Kloot playing live in the studio. We chatted to them about touring, their forthcoming album, and, well, lots of other random stuff.

For anybody who’s in the Bristol area tomorrow night, go down to the Prom on Wednesday. NYC-based Lisa Redford has returned to the UK and is doing a mini-tour. She’s on around 9.30pm.

Gig with Josphine Oniyama, this Sunday, Pulse Cafe, Todmorden

Wednesday, August 19th, 2009

Thanks to everyone who came to the gig at Trof Northern Quarter last night. It was a really fun gig!

I’m playing at Pulse Cafe, Todmorden, along with Josephine Oniyama. It starts at 2pm on Sunday, 23rd August.

I played at Pulse a few weeks ago, and it’s a lovely venue. The gig is free, too!

Josephine’s a really well known Manchester artist, and always puts on good live shows. The cafe does great vegetarian food, coffee and even has beer and wine. If anyone wants a lift up there, there are 3 free spaces in a car at the moment – just let me know in the comments section on the blog, or by email…
