Jabez Gig cancelled

Filed under: Gigs, Music News — Tom @ 2:57 pm

Hi all,
Unfortunately the FuseFM series of gigs at Jabez Clegg have been cancelled by the organisers :-( Really sorry about that - there wasn’t much we could do. However I’ve got a replacement at Jackson’s Pit in Oldham, just North East of Manchester…
Sorry about the Jabez gig!

Jabez Clegg, 27th!

Filed under: Gigs, Music News — Tom @ 1:22 am

Hey! My next Manchester gig is at the FuseFM AMP night at Jabez Clegg, in a week’s time (Monday 27th). They’ve got a lovely-sounding PA in there (I’ve just returned from checking out this week’s show) and it should be a good one if we can get a nice crowd along. Would be lovely to see you there!

Liam Frost and the Slowdown Family

Filed under: Acoustic, Recommended music — Tom @ 10:23 am

Liam Frost is a Mancunian singer-songwriter who does a good live show and is rapidly gaining a cult following. Look out for the debut album, available on Amazon.

He’s done a string of live shows this year, including a residency at Night and Day, and an appearance at the Summer Sundae Festival.

Liam Frost and co

Filed under: General — Tom @ 8:39 pm

As always in Manchester, loads and loads of great acoustic gigs are happening. Thursday 26th Jan saw the beginning of a four-week residency by Mancunian singer-songwriter Liam Frost, and his band the Slowdown Family.

Support acts Damon Valentine and Lisa Brown were on top form - Damon with some slow but beautifully crafted Damien Rice-style stuff and Lisa Brown (they’re actually an all-male indie band) with their highly-infectious post-Coldplay pop. I’ve had their songs running through my head all week.

Laim Frost and co were really excellent - and Night and Day was sold out, creating a great atmosphere… It’s an ideally suited venue for this kind of thing, and I imagine he’ll go on to sell out much bigger venues in the coming year. As is often the case with Night and Day, the sound was really top quality.

If you’d like to catch the last two dates of Liam’s residency at Night and Day, then get yourself to the cafe before 8 on Thursday 9th and Thursday 16th. You won’t be disappointed. But tickets probably won’t last long.
