Fuel, Withington

The info on this venue was updated June 2009. Let me know any thoughts, additions, or feedback, in the comments below!
Fuel is a small vegetarian cafĂ© with a lovely atmosphere, and some brilliant events happening upstairs…
You can catch live music here almost every night of the week, and it’s host to a lively open mic night on Wednesdays.
Fuel is also where my very own Songs for the Bathtub nights began, in 2005. Those nights were themselves inspired by Quiet Night Out and Red Deer Club — both of which became the best events to see small-scale live acoustic music in Manchester, carving out a DIY scene that is still as strong as ever in 2009.
In fact, nights such as Hi, How Are You?, Pindrop, and Cloud Sounds, follow on in this tradition of low-key, acoustic events. Most are free, or donation-based. It’s definitely one of my favourite small venues in Manchester.
