Manchester Phoenix

Went to a really good little acousticcy night at the Manchester Phoenix yesterday. It was a fundraiser for the nascent Tsn Centre – a project to provide community music and learning in the city.

Highlight of the show was headliner Nancy Cunliffe – who plays harp, guitar, and a strange Thai string instrument called the Kim – kinda similar to a hammer dulcimer. Really great stuff, anyway – so good the I bought a CD…

She’s doing more gigs in Manchester in the near future, including one at Fuel in Withington – so I’ll keep you posted.

  • thanks for nice comment left on my blog, I felt I should reciprocate. Have been reading through your entries and I see that you’ve recently moved away from Devon, what a shame, it’s a fantastic part of the country to live in.

I’m sure Manchester more than compensates though. I’ve never been properly, but went through it on the Metro link to Altincham recently and it looked really cool and vibrant.

  • Hey, thanks from leaving a comment on my msn space, don’t think I know you but your name sounds familiar lol. I have since managed to locate Exeter hehe. Should be going to see my mate at Uni in the near future lol. Nice bloggage here. Anyway, have a nice day and all that, Steve.
