Substation

It’s been quite a busy week. After the Funky Raw festival on Saturday night we went to a drumming evening in Ashburton. It was good to just be there in the audience, an the music was fantastic, perfect to dance to.

On Sunday I went down to Plymouth to see Substation – they’re an excellent local funk band, and feature our own Lee Stone on bass. Word is spreading and they’d managed to almost pack out the Plymouth Junction – so that was a great night. If you get a chance to see them, go for it – especially if you want a good party atmosphere.

Monday was a musicians’ union day in Bridgwater, which proved really useful – met lots of cool people. It’ll be good to be more in contact with the people who are doing music up that way.

Then yesterday I went to Exeter to meet up with some more musicians at an event organised by the Music Angel. It was a great chance to meet up with other musicians, including Amy from Trimorphous and Adam from Westcott and Rodway. The speaker was Richard Rogers, who seems to have been involved in the music industry in every conceivable way since he first started out as an accountant. Sounds like an excellent job. He really liked the CDs we gave him. We then headed to the pub afterwards and carried on talking. Turned into a really good evening. Unfortunately I lost track of time and missed the last train to Taunton… so I’m back in Totnes, waiting for the next train this morning!
