Trof Northern Quarter opened in 2007 (building on the well-known Trof brand, which began in Fallowfield)

There’s also an open mic night here every Sunday – arrive as early as possible to get a slot! Sign up begins at 8pm, with the first act on at 8.30pm.

Back in 2007, it was briefly home to my Songs for the Bath Tub series of acoustic nights on the first Tuesday of every month.

Hi Tom, just wondering if this Sunday at Trof would be a good time to come and perform? It’s still in the balance whether I’d be coming alone or with a guitarist. Either way, I rap lyrics but very much in an attempt to be any thing other than a ‘rapper’, so I don’t want the idea of guns, bitchiz and bling to throw anyone…if you could e-mail me back to let me know if this night is still running that’d be ace. Hopefully see you Sunday.

my name is david and my son’s friend plays the guitar and sings he is 16 years old and was woundering if there was a age limit,could you please confirm back to me whether you need your own material or if you can sing covers.
This is a new venture to us so any advice would be very much appreciated.

Good to hear from you. It’s in a bar I’m afraid, so legally he’d have to be 18+ to be in the bar. However Trof serve food, so I believe if you are eating food the regulations may be different. I’d recommend giving the bar a call at the number above to confirm.
We do encourage originals, but interesting and unusual covers are also welcome!
